Easy Ayurvedic DIYs for Skincare — The Rituals Your Grandmother Knew
·
Mamash Editorial

Ayurveda is not nostalgia. It is observation — five thousand years of paying attention to what skin actually responds to. Here are four rituals you can start tonight, all from your kitchen.

Ice cube facial — the 30-second cool down

Wrap an ice cube in a soft cloth. Glide it over your face for 30 seconds, especially over inflamed areas. Calms redness, shrinks active breakouts, tightens pores. The best part: free. Do this anytime your skin feels hot or reactive.

Steam ritual — the weekly pore reset

Boil water, add a few drops of tea tree or eucalyptus oil. Cover your head with a towel and lean over the bowl for 4 to 5 minutes. Loosens congestion, softens blackheads, opens skin for whatever ritual comes next. Best done before a clay mask.

Turmeric and yogurt mask

One teaspoon turmeric (pinch only — it stains), one tablespoon yogurt, half teaspoon honey. Mix. Apply to clean face. Leave 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Calms inflammation, evens tone, gently exfoliates. Once a week.

Your kitchen has been a skincare laboratory for longer than any brand has been alive.

Aloe and Gotu Kola gel

Fresh aloe gel from the leaf, mixed with a pinch of Gotu Kola powder. Apply at night as a serum. Heals, hydrates, and supports skin that has been through too many treatments. Refrigerate what you don't use — fresh is the whole point.
